Quest® File Migrator for SharePoint®
Version 1.6
Release Notes
March 2009
Welcome to Quest File Migrator for SharePoint
Resolved Issues and Known Issues
Quest File Migrator for SharePoint enables organizations to migrate content and metadata from shared network folders and other content locations, including Novell® and eRoom®, to Windows® SharePoint® Services (WSS) 3.0 or Microsoft® Office SharePoint Server 2007. Migration jobs can be easily created, and documents can be filtered to refine the document set to be migrated.
Note: All new features are supported in both the GUI and the Powershell interface.
You can now perform file migrations from eRoom Enterprise Version 7.x to WSS 3.0 or SharePoint Server 2007. Quest File Migrator for SharePoint maintains versioning, file metadata, and some eRoom metadata.
Prior to performing a migration, run a full analysis to ensure that the final results will be what you expect. This takes the guess work out of major migrations and ensures more reliable and timely migrations.
Quest File Migrator for SharePoint is now supported on Windows Server® 2008, SQL ServerTM 2008, and SQL Server Express 2008.
The following is a list of issues addressed and enhancements implemented in this release of Quest File Migrator for SharePoint.

Resolved Issue |
Change Request |
|
| Second time Migration | Second time migration fails against a versioned document library with the following settings turned on: ‘Require content approval’ or ‘Require documents to be checked out before edit’. | TFS# 51676 |
| Second time migration creates duplicate folders when the target is on a versioned document library with major & minor version support | TFS# 60747 | |
| Cmdlets | Add-QfmJob and Set-QfmTarget cmdlets will fail if the target server name does not match the server to which you have deployed an agent. | TFS# 56477 |
| File and Folder Migration | Created By field is not set after migration. | TFS# 57023 |
| A source file with corrupt metadata causes other files to skip migration. | TFS# 58686 | |
| Folder migration will fail with "Null Item found" if the folder name ends with one of the following: .files;_files; -Dateien ; _fichiers; _bestanden; _file; _archivos; -filer; _tiedostot; _pliki; _soubory; _elemei; _ficheiros; _arquivos; _dosyalar; _datoteke; _fitxers; _failid; _fails; _bylos; _fajlovi; _fitxategiak | TFS# 59526 | |
| Migration report shows "Path: - Error: 3" for a path that is too long. The full path name is now reported as an error and all files and folders underneath this folder will not be processed. | TFS# 63561 | |
| When editing a file that was migrated using custom metadata mapping with no default value and an empty source file property value, Microsoft Office 2007 will display the following warning: "To save to the server, correct the invalid or missing required properties". | TFS# 65404 | |
|
Known Issues |
||
| Filtering |
Quest File Migrator for SharePoint supports metadata string filtering only. |
TFS# 49301 |
| Some PDF files version 1.4 and later do not follow standard conventions. This may cause PDF metadata filtering to exclude the files. | TFS# 50913 | |
| Customized PDF properties cannot be filtered on. | TFS# 49699 | |
| NetWare® Support | To run two concurrent NetWare migration jobs, you need 2 different sets of NDS®/Active Directory® credentials. | TFS# 53401 |
| eRoom | If you have 2 eRoom folders in the same location with the same name (with the exception of the \ and _), they will both be migrated to the same target folder. | TFS# 62497 |
| MS Office 2007 |
MS Office 2007 property extraction fails when running from a 64 bit machine. If you install
File Migrator for SharePoint on a 64-bit system, you must manually register the 32-bit MS
Office 2007 Property Extractor to migrate Office 2007 file properties.
As a workaround, manually register the 32-bit Office 2007 property extractor (MSOSHEXT.DLL) on the Console. The DLL is located, by default, in c:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\OFFICE12\MSOSHEXT.DLL. (If the file is missing from this location, you must copy it from an existing 32-bit computer). To register this DLL:
NOTE: This also applies to an eRoom server running on a 64-bit computer. |
TFS# 62896 |
| Migration | Running multiple jobs with the same target fails if the migration is run the first time. | TFS# 66474 |
